The second head ultrasound results are the same as the first. Keagan’s brains is clear and Kevin still has the same stage bleeds.
Kevin has opened his left eye. Chad says he looks like a pirate (just like Uncle Wayne!)
Both boys have been moved to conventional respirators as opposed to vibrating respirators. On the vibrating respirator air was pumped into their lungs very quickly. The boys looked like they were shaking. Now, their breathing looks more like normal breathing motion.
Kevin has had high blood sugar for the last few days. After some insulin treatments it has been getting better.
Keagan is tolerating mom’s milk well. He’s now up to 1.5 cc every 3 hours. Kevin tried it, seems to like it and now gets 1 cc every 6 hours.
Christy clarified some information about Keagan’s distended bowels. This is a common occurrence with preemies and has to do with his testicles. When both boys are ready to go home, if their testicles have not yet descended, they will require surgery.
Both boys also have Broviac lines now. Prior to have these lines, they were getting/receiving everything through tubes in their bellies. Now they each have a Broviac line behind their ears, which is used to draw blood, administer medications, fluids, and blood if needed. The line is good for up to six weeks and will save the boys from having to endure many pains and pokes.
Chad and Christy have both assured me that their heads are a little larger than tennis balls but yes; their bums are very tiny.
